Batsiranai
translates helping each other

|
Batsiranai
(BAT-si-RA-nai) is a womens handicraft
project that supports mothers with severely
disabled children living under challenging
circumstances in Harare, Zimbabwe. In addition
to living with extreme poverty, these families
often suffer from stigma related to local
beliefs regarding the origin of disabilities.
In addition to stigma, 25% of the Zimbabwean
population is living positively with HIV.
Thus, in Zimbabwe there is much opportunity
for helping each other.
We wish to acknowledge the many volunteers
who have given so generously of their time
and hearts as well as our fair trade sponsors:
Oxfam Australia Trading, Global Exchange Fair Trade Store, and One World Children's Fund.
It is through your interest and support that
Batsiranai can be successful. Please visit
the Batsiranai shop link above to view their
beautiful designs using embroidery, fabrics,
and recycled bottlecap painting. The proceeds
from your purchases go directly back to the
members.
